Clinical Services & Seniors' Programs

Counseling

Professional counselors offer sensitive and confidential services regarding personal growth (self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties), child development (behavior, social and learning problems), professional and life cycle (career, employment, financial concerns) matters. From an initial call to sorting through difficult, painful issues, our staff at Jewish Family Service is available to respond to your questions and needs. Jewish Family Service has a sliding fee policy for counseling services, and also accepts Medicare, some health insurance plans, and serves all ages, individuals, families, and couples.

For more information on our Clinical services, please contact Susan Lambrose, JFS Clinical Services, and Senior Programs Coordinator, at slambrose@sbjf.org or call (805) 957-1116 ext 119.

JFS Caring Visitors Program

Be a Visitor, or request a Visitor for a family member, client or friend!

“Honor your father and your mother” is a sacred commandment. Just as we preserve the dignity of our own aging parents, we demonstrate kavod (respect) for all elderly members of our community. Visitors arevolunteers who provide satisfying, life-enhancing companionship to isolated seniors thereby contributing to a senior-friendly community for Jewish and non-Jewish elders alike. Visitors experience a genuine appreciation of others’ stories and strengths and offer to each person visited a meaningful sense of belonging and connection to our human community.

Do you know a senior who needs a Visitor? Do you want to become a Visitor and enjoy a particularly meaningful kind of volunteer work? Visitors and Seniors need not be Jewish to participate.

Contact Rabbi Debi Lewis, Community Rabbi, dlewis@sbjf.org or call (805) 957-1116, ext 113.
