In Memory of Michael Towbes z"l

The Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara mourns the passing of Michael Towbes z"l. Our community has lost a beloved leader, outstanding businessman, incredibly generous philanthropist, great friend, and a true and passionate visionary. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family during this very difficult time.

Michael and his wife Anne's generosity has been spread widely across the Santa Barbara community, benefiting many non-profits, schools, and the arts. They have supported numerous Jewish Federation events and campaigns, including the Santa Barbara Jewish Festival and the Santa Barbara Jewish Film Festival. 

Each Fall, the Jewish Federation presents the Anne and Michael Towbes Community Leadership Award at the Annual Alan J. Wyner Men’s Event. Most recently, Michael and Anne partnered with the Luria Foundation to fund a Matching Capital Challenge Grant to support critical security and safety needs at the Jewish Federation’s Bronfman Family JCC.

May his memory be a blessing for all who knew him.
