St raight out of college\, she went to work for Santa Barbara Police Depart ment\, where she worked for over 27 years as a patrol officer (mostly ni ght shift !!)\, a Crime Scene Investigator\, a Gang Enforcement officer\ , and a Property Crimes Detective. While in the detective bureau\, Krist in focused on financial crime investigations\, specifically those target ing our senior population. She retired from SBPD in 2019\, and in 2021 j oined the District Attorney’s Office as a Real Estate Fraud investigat or\, where she quickly learned how little she knew about real estate fra ud. Over the past five years with the DA’s office\, she has learned mu ch more about real estate fraud\, and continues to work financial elder abuse investigations.\n \;\nGreg Hons: \nGreg Hons is also a UCSB al umnus from the late 1990s\, and after college graduation he worked as a “sanitation engineer” before attending the police academy and joinin g the Santa Barbara PD. In his 21-year career with SBPD\, Greg was a bik e patrol officer\, a SWAT Team leader\, and a Property Crimes Detective. Currently\, Greg is also the Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Po lice Foundation. Because his law enforcement partner (Kristin) is the on e writing his bio for him (he’s very busy with a big case at the momen t) you must also be informed that Greg was a cheerleader at UCSB\, respo nsible for tossing smaller cheerleaders up into the air.
