State Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson will be giving a legislative update on her current legislation, primarily around her work as the Chair of the Legislative Women's Caucus. The Caucus has chosen priority legislation around four central pillars: equal pay and job opportunities, access to childcare, family friendly workplaces and building economic security by addressing poverty.

One of Sen. Jackson's bill, The Fair Pay Act (SB 358), will strengthen the state's existing equal pay law by eliminating loopholes that prevent effective enforcement and empowering employees to discuss pay without fear of retaliation.

Hannah-Beth Jackson represents the 19th Senate District in the California State Senate, which includes all of Santa Barbara County and western Ventura County. An educator, former small business owner and former Deputy District Attorney, she represented the 35th Assembly District from 1998 to 2004 in the California State Assembly.

In the Senate, she is chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and serves on several key committees, including Environmental Quality Committee, the Natural Resources Committee, the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee, and the Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee. She's also chair of the California Legislative Women's Caucus.
