We are thrilled to invite you to celebrate the grand opening of the Center for Jewish Education.

The evening will begin with a champagne reception and the unveiling of our inaugural exhibit, Praying with Our Feet: Local Voices from the Civil Rights Era. 

Following the exhibit opening, enjoy a special performance of 

Letters from Anne and Martin, presented by Anne Frank Center USA.

 

 

 

Located within the Adam Bronfman JCC, the Center for Jewish Education serves as a cornerstone of Jewish learning in Santa Barbara. It provides a welcoming space for 

community members of all ages to gather, 

explore their heritage, and deepen their connection to their Jewish roots. The Center fosters pride in Jewish identity, nurtures a sense of belonging, and equips individuals 

with the strength, humility, and perseverance rooted in the wisdom of previous generations to navigate today’s world.

 

 

 

The Center's opening exhibit celebrates the stories of Santa Barbara community members who stood for justice during the Civil Rights Movement. It highlights the 

historic alliance between Black and Jewish communities in the ongoing fight against hatred and discrimination.

Through personal accounts of individuals who marched, organized, and witnessed pivotal moments in history, the exhibit brings their courageous actions to life. In partnership 

with the Portraits of Survival Holocaust exhibit, 

Praying with Our Feet explores what it means to be an "upstander," inspiring future generations to take meaningful action toward justice and equality.

 

 

 

This moving performance, presented by Anne Frank Center USA weaves together excerpts from 

The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Letter from a Birmingham Jail. It highlights the shared messages of hope, justice, and humanity, inspiring audiences to work toward a more harmonious and equitable world.
