A Message from Executive Director Cyndi Silverman

I am thrilled and honored to be the Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara. Following eleven fulfilling years with the Anti-Defamation League, Santa Barbara Tri-Counties, I decided it was time to retire. Shortly thereafter I was offered this exciting opportunity to lead the fabulous Federation team into a new era of Jewish Santa Barbara.
Tu Bishvat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees, is next week, marking the moment when the first buds of spring emerge and begin to bloom in Israel. We at the Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara are busily tending to many exciting new blooms and we cannot wait to share the fruits of our labor with you.
We are BUILDING the Jewish Education Center:

An expansion of the Portraits of Survival exhibit, this center will include an interactive educational exhibition space, a newly designed website, archival video footage of local Survivors, and an in-house educator to design and teach programming on Jewish identity and history. We will be expanding our class and presentation offerings for all ages.
We are CONNECTING the broader Santa Barbara Jewish Community:

Shalom Santa Barbara, a magazine featuring everything Jewish in our community, is launching April 15, 2020! Every Jewish organization in the Santa Barbara area will have one to two pages to talk about what their organization does and how to get involved. All are welcome to participate, regardless of denominational or cultural affiliation.
We are CONVENING all of the local Jewish organizations:

The Jewish communal professionals in our community have long wished for a calendar that would centralize every Jewish organizations’ activities in one easy to navigate place. This will be an invaluable resource for reducing the double bookings that so often occur in our wonderfully vibrant community that is filled with organizations offering an abundance of activities.
Thank you so much for your continued support! I look forward to seeing you soon. Please call, email or stop in. I would love the opportunity to get to know you better.
Tu Bishvat Sameach!

Cyndi Silverman
