Shirley Lehrer
Shirley Lehrer is a member of the Jewish Federation's President's Cabinet and a Lion of Judah. She moved to Santa Barbara 31 years ago from the Los Angeles area, and lives with her husband of 62 years, Seymour. They have two daughters, Ellen and Karen, one grandchild and two greatgrandchildren. Shirley has been a Jewish Family Service "Volunteer Visitor" since October 2007, and she has taught the popular "Sit and Stretch" class for seniors since the Federation moved to the Chapala Street building in 1998. Previous to the Federation's relocation, Shirley led senior fitness walks and activities at our prior facility. Fitness has been, and remains, an important part of her life. Shirley is also active in the general community and proudly serves on the Council Planning Committee of the Music Academy of the West.
Judy Carter
Judy Carter, one of America's top motivational humorists, uses the "power of the punch line" to connect with audiences from the boardroom to the ballroom. She has shared stages with President Clinton, Deepak Chopra and Lily Tomlin, as well as appearing on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." A graduate of USC's theater program, Judy was the first woman to play the Close-up Gallery at Hollywood's Magic Castle. She has authored "The Comedy Bible" and "Standup Comedy," taught comedy workshops, coached CEOs on their speeches, and developed a series of instructional DVDs. She and her spouse live in Venice Beach, California with permission from their cats and dogs.
