New Class!
PUZZLES & GAMES FOR YOUR BRAIN
with Skona Brittain
Neuroscience studies have shown that one of the best ways to ward off dementia is to stretch your brain by learning new things and trying new kinds of mental activities.
In this class, we’ll do a variety of puzzles and games that require both logic and creative outside-the-box thinking. Sometimes we’ll focus on specific types of thinking and discuss how they affect the brain. You’ll also have the opportunity to relax and play games you enjoy.
Come join us to have fun staying young!

Skona Brittain lives and breathes games and puzzles. When she homeschooled her children, games were their main curriculum. After years of designing games just for them, and helping local game designers by playtesting their games, this year Skona invented a game that is currently being evaluated by an educational game publisher.
Over the past dozen years, Skona has taught about puzzles and games in many venues: She has taught several children's logic puzzles classes; she runs game and puzzle workshops and gives talks about the benefits of game playing for families; she ran a game design camp at Whiz Kids; she hosts puzzle parties for math groups; and she taught a class in the Academy at Congregation B'nai B'rith about Jewish games. (Because her "creative mathematics" classes are so fun, parents have repeatedly requested that she teach the same classes for adults.)
In addition to running her math enrichment business, SB Family School, Skona does freelance editing (she is currently editing a book about the science of how puzzles improve your mind) and she creates and sells Judaica & Mathematica through her crafts company, SB Crafts, which always has a booth at the Santa Barbara Jewish Festival.
